Corsican Waltz

Sometimes things get a little weird around here. Today I learned a Corsican waltz from a Venezuelan violinist. So. That's odd, right? But I listened to lots of versions of this waltz. And I have to say, Eddy Marcano is a god of the violin and his was the best.

His had a lot of that cool polyrhythmic stuff, kind of like it was a Joropo because it dodges in between 3/4 and 6/8. The traditional Corsican version just sounded too straight in comparison. Anyway, Eddy Marcano is a wonderful musician and he plays a lot of Venezuelan music with his Trio Acustico. I met him during a short residency they did at my university a few years ago.  You can find his music on amazon and I highly recommend that you do!
